5 Reasons to Reduce Weight Now
1. Diabetes
80-90 percent of type 2 diabetes patients are overweight. Eating incorrect foods is one of the primary causes of obesity. High glycemic foods are high-energy foods that quickly raise blood glucose levels. The body stores the too high glucose/energy as fat.
2. Stroke
Arteriosclerosis, or the buildup of fatty deposits in the arteries throughout the body, is linked to obesity. This causes them to constrict, decreasing blood flow and increasing the risk of blood clotting. Those providing blood to the brain are among the arteries at risk. If clotting happens as a result of a constricted artery, the blood supply to a part of the brain is cut off, resulting in a stroke. This risk is reduced by losing weight.
3. Cancer
Excess estrogens, a hormone, and increased levels of insulin production are clearly promoted by body fat. The faster cells replicate, the greater the odds of malignant cell growth. Obesity and physical inactivity are linked to 25–33 percent of cancer cases worldwide.
4. Respiratory Problems
Obesity causes the lungs to shrink in size and the chest wall to become heavier to raise when breathing in. Hypoventilation is a buildup of carbon dioxide (the gas we exhale) in the bloodstream as a result of insufficient breathing. The only long-term, safe, and healthy remedy to sleep apnea would be to lose weight.
5. High Blood Pressure
The combination of BMI (Body Mass Index) and age is the most powerful predictor of hypertension or high blood pressure risk. Obesity is linked to at least a third of hypertension cases.
